Suggested use

You will need:

  • 1 cup (16 tablespoons) butter, cold, cut into 1/2" cubes*
  • 4-6 tablespoons of water, cold

Tips:

  1. Place mixture in a bowl.Work in butter until unevenly crumbly, leaving some pea-sized pieces intact.
  2. Stir in the water, adding enough to make a cohesive dough. Divide the dough in half, shape into disks, and wrap. Refrigerate 15 minutes before rolling.
  3. Before rolling, spray the work surface and top of the dough with gluten-free cornstarch, or roll the dough between pieces of plastic wrap or parchment paper.
  4. Roll to desired size and bake according to recipe directions.

Baker's tip:

  • The crust should be baked until golden brown and may take 5-10 minutes longer than a wheat crust to bake completely.

*To make dairy free, substitute vegan butter for butter sticks or margarine.
