Heat oven to 350ºF.Beat shortening, brown sugar, sugar, butter, and vanilla in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until blended.Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Stir together flour mixture, almond flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.Beat shortening mixture until blended.Stir in chocolate chips and almonds.
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are light brown. Cool on baking sheet 3 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
